Welcome to Biotechnology Center
The Biotechnology Center at Western Kentucky University was established
to facilitate hands-on educational opportunities for Biology students and to provide technical and educational services to the State of Kentucky, the biotechnology industry, and the general public.
The Biotechnology Center is a part of Western's
Applied Research and Technology Program (ARTP), which provides multidisciplinary
scientific and technical assistance needed to help solve industrial and environmental
problems. The center now is housed in the Complex for Engineering and Biological Science (CEBS), which is a state-of-the-art building used for life science research.
The goals of the Biotechnology Center
- To expand student research and training opportunities.
- To provide support for faculty research.
- To provide Biotechnology services for federal, local, and private organizations.
- To provide Biotechnology education to the community.
- To provide or implement new technologies as they become available or needed.
- To develop interdisciplinary activities which utilize biotechnology, including the integration of mathematics, statistics, computer science, and engineering.
