Sigrid Jacobshagen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology. She earned her M.S degree from the Justus-Liebig-University in Giessen, Germany. In 1988, she obtained her Ph.D degree from the Free University of Berlin, Germany, in plant biochemistry. She did her postdoctoral work at Vanderbilt University in cell physiology. Dr. Jacobshagens current research is focussed on understanding the regulation of gene expression by the circadian clock and the entrainment of the circadian clock by light.
As the center director, Dr.Jacobshagen represents the Biotechnology Center in matters of policy , contracts and funding pursuits. Represinting the center, Dr.Jacobshagen has operational oversight of the biotechnology center and core facility, drafts the annual budget and revises it to meet the majority of the Biotechnology Center members.
