Xinnan Niu, Core Facility Coordinator
Mr. Xinnan Niu earned his Medical Degree from Henan Medical University in China and worked as a Public Health Doctor in the Center for Disease Control in Zhengzhou for several years. He obtained his M.S degree in Biology from the Department of Biology at Western Kentucky University. He joined the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1999 and worked successively as Senior Research Technologist, Research Associate, and Associate Director in the Viral Core Facility of MCW. There, he designed and constructed virus based vectors for gene therapy research. In 2004, he received his 2nd M.S degree in Computing (Emphasis on bio-computing) from the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science at Marquette University. His working experiences and education background give him broad research potential in medical science, molecular biology, and bioinformatics.
He came back to Western in March, 2005. Working as the center coordinator, he assists the directors of the center to manage the center's core facilities and provides consulting services in biotechniques, bioinformatics, and bio-instrumentation. He also teaches the biotechnology certification course to students.
